Elephant ear coral with sweepers ?

Hi everyone this is my first post and I need some help. I have what I believe is a elephant ear coral and it seems to be letting out sweepers about 6" long, I know leathers let out a white mucas and this is what I'm seeing but it's able to suck the strings right back in. I'm very confused so if anyone could help me out that would be great !!!
