Natural vs. Artificial Light

I am wondering how others on here balance the amount of natural vs. artificial light that their tanks get. I have some coralline bleaching issues which I am fairly certain, at this point, has to do with either light intensity or total light amount. I think this could have some implications about my ability to keep corals in the future. I also want to make sure there is enough night time for the day inhabitants to sleep and the nocturnal ones to rest and move about.

In the room my tank is in, there is a decent amount of natural light. There is a shade on the window permanently, so there is no direct sunlight or anything, but it's definitely enough to be "daytime" in the tank. I'm trying to schedule my LED optimally, but I'm not sure how to approach it. I'd like the lights to be on when I'm home from work (6:00pm+), but by then, the tank has already have 10 hours of solid natural light. Extending the light time to 11:00pm or midnight would mean only 6 hours of dark. Is this an issue?

Right now I have my timer kicking on at 2:00pm and turning off at 10:00pm.
