I have recently noticed a large amount of bubbles escaping the substrate/rock and racing towards the surface.
Any ideas where/what they are from? I have recently added sand, I thought perhaps it could be nitrogen, but I didn't think bacteria processed it that quickly.
I do not believe they are "micro bubbles" from a pump or otherwise, since I only have 2 pumps.
The tank is new as of June ( I consider it still new, anyway). No protein skimmer, or filter. Just weekly water changes.
