DIY sump

Hi all!



I am thinking of adding a sump for my small reef tank and I would like to make one myself.



I've got this red plastic bucket from ikea which I want to use as the sump. I do not know how to start and the things I'll need... would appreciate if someone could enlighten me.



My tank has been set up for a year now. I am currently having this hang on back filter that I use as a tiny refugium. I need to know how should i create the pumps to bring water to and from my display tank... and my greatest worry being one day the pumps might burst or come loose when no one is at home... considering the height that the water needs to travel between the 2 locations..



Cant seem to upload the pic.... but the red bucket will be on the floor next to the tank... and the tank is placed on top of a small table...
