I was hoping someone could help. I have:
90 display with 2 radion gen 2,
Reef octopus skimmer -for 150 gal.
My sump was a 30 gal with the input area with the skimmer, refugium then return with pump and uv filter. I have a 7 filter 50gpd ro/di so im very pure water-000 with the tds meter.
I changed my setup to have everything in the basement, to make dosing and water changes way easy. my setup now is a 30 gallon with only the skimmer and heater, then overflow into the 40 gallon that is all refugium with mud and DSB. then bubble trap to return pump.
I run the 2 little fishes 150. one with phosban and the other cabon. and u/v filter.
Ever since the update I have a green hair algae bloom that will not go away. I did 20 gallon water changes daily for 2 weeks. YES DAILY. My water changes are very easy. open a valve, drain, close and pump new water in. Used algaefix, no result. a little would go away but right back. turned off the lights for a week with dosing and as soon as I turned them on with 5% brightness and stopped the daily water changes to weekly, all the algae is back?? I have just started with bio plastics even though my LFS tells me my water sample is good, 10ppm nitrate or less. But i cant seem to starve the algae away.
My bio load is the same. only difference between the setup in the amount of actual water. Im about 150-160ish total now not 115ish.
My question, is my skimmer big enough or is it just too small for this amount of water. I basically have 3 aquariums stacked on top of each other.
and the reef octopus might be to small to remove the dissolved stuff....
