Pictures from the Steinhart Aquarium

Last weekend during a trip to San Francisco I was able to make it up to the Steinhart Aquarium. I had heard of the institutes massive reef tank and I wanted to see it for myself. I was not disappointed

The aquarium was rather small but did feature quite a few reef exhibits. Each reef display was a complete biotope of a specific region which I thought was interesting. Here are pictures of some of the reef displays.

The Philippine Reef tank: (Apprx: 212,000 gallons and 25 feet deep!) There was a lot of huge medal halides hanging above this to try and give adequate light for the corals. The tank was beautiful and I saw a multitude of SPS colonies, soft corals, and anemones.
