During my days working at the LFS I have accumulated a large amount of live rock rubble, crushed coral, shells and a plethora or calcuim carbonate skeletons. I am working out the plans on starting a 200g marineland deep dimension reef tank. My though was to crush up this rubble/crushed coral/shells into a fine reef sand to use as a substrate. Im thinking this would make a quality and natural sand.
1. does anyone have any bright ideas for crushing this stuff efficiently?
2.should i sift out the really fine stuff with window screen or simply rinse it thoroughly?
3. how much sand in a 3'x4' tank bottom
This is my first post on this wonderful website, thanks in advance for the help.
