I've had these two clownfish for a year, I got them as captive bred babies from the same clutch. They have done okay, mostly getting along with the occasional squabble. Neither one wants to back down.
But now the one that is just slightly larger is keeping the other one near the top of the tank. The smaller one is starting to give in but still occasionally objects (ie does not submit and fights back).
I know that they will vie for position of female (the victor being the one who gets to be female). Is there a chance they are both going for the prize and it could be a fight to the death? Or will one eventually submit and be male?
I wonder if I should let nature take its course, or if I should go ahead and remove the smaller one and find him a new home.
What sayeth the community?
