Hi all, really pleased to find this site and all the knowledgable people on it.
i have spent hours looking through many threads on here but have been unable to find an answer to my particular problem.
I am going to be upsizing my tank and the new tank will have to sit where the old one is, the complication i have is that i have serious Aiptasia problem so i would like to be able to use some fresh live rock in the new tank then sterilise the old rock before adding at a later date.
Obviously this is going to trigger a nitrogen cycle, i was wondering if i connected up an external filter to the existing tank and run it for a while and then transfer it to the new tank would it be able to handle the filtration until the new rock matures?
Also as i would be transferring most of the old water would the be a risk of spores from the aiptasia infecting the new rock?
I would really welcome any thoughts and other ideas of how to go about this.
