So when input this tank together I used "dead" rock (dried live rock) from my old tank I had a few years ago. My ammonia spiked to 8+ about a week ago. Today I tested and ammonia is 2 and nitrites 5+ And nitrates already 5. So I'm worried by the end of the cycle my nitrates will be so high I won't be able to get them back down to 0, which is where I aim to be.
My last tank registered 0 or at least <5 for its life ( until the bottom seam let go and poured all my money on the floor).
So should I do a water change now since I'm registering nitrates? Or just continue to let it run it's course until I show 0 ammonia and nitrite?
