Algae problem after Algae problem

Hello all, so I've only been back on here for a few weeks, but noticed that there is a recurring issue. There seems to be a ton of people with nuisance algae problems. I've read through a bunch of the threads and the same questions after same questions are being asked. "Are you siphoning your sand, are you blowing off your rock, what are your water parameters, are you using RO/DI water?"

I can say in the 30 plus years that I've been in the hobby I've never had an algae issue that had anything to do with PH, Alk, Cal, Mag, Temp, Salinity or "IODIDE". I don't siphon sand, blow off rock, over feed or over stock and I can honestly say that I've never had and algae problem in an established tank. Now maybe a little at the very start of a system here and there, but it's gone away quickly on it's own. I feel that if you are using RO/DI water at 0 TDS and doing regular water changes nitrate and phosphate can be kept in check.

So where are all of these algae issues coming from??? Could it be that the rock people are getting is not good quality rock? Are people over feeding and/or over stocking?

I've also seen people against using products like phosphate RX. Well if your tank is over run with algae and you can't get it under control by other means why not?

I'm not an expert and don't claim to be, just throwing out some food for thought and trying to figure out why so many nuisance algae threads on here?
