I'm considering starting a small reef. I like the idea of the 29 gallon biocube. I've seen some very successful ones. Given the small volume I want to build a refugium in the basement of my house. It will be directly below the biocube. I do realize that I will need a hefty pump to overcome 12 feet of head. I have an old 55 gallon which I would like to convert to a sump refugium. Is there any harm in using a much larger refugium than the display tank? My thought is greater total system volume equals easier control of parameters. Please share your thoughts.
