Hiya, so i had a chance to buy a skimmer from a friend for 15$, so i did. Its a no name brand from ebay, the ones that cost like 30$ lol, hey why not. Before i tore down my 20g sps and cleaned it i had the skimmer on it for a few days and pulled out some dirty water, but since it isnt a reef octopus im still very speculative. But hey its better then nothing. So i decided to go youtubing to see how my foam head compares to others and found this interesting video

It seems the wetskim skimmate is much higher in ammonia then the tank water, however phosphates are the same. Dont be fooled though, first of all the ammonia is coming from something decaying therefore soon enough phosphates will be released. Anyways i thought it was interesting to see that wet skimming (i cannot speak for dry skimming at this point) is actually helping in exporting nitrates (because ammonia eventually gets converted to nitrates) and phosphates, since we dont really mention nitrates when wetskimming.
