UV Sterilizer Benefits?

Hey guys! I was just wondering...., I understand that it kills parasites in the water column, but what are the pros and cons of using a UV sterilizer? Does it limit algae growth by killing algae in the water column? Will it affect my PC algae? Will it help with future parasitic infections? Thanks
