Can i scrape a cocoworm off a frag without killing it?

I have a very nice acan frag that is growing at a surprising rate, and believe it or not the frag has a cocoworm that is also growing at a staggering rate, call it the "plug of poseidon" or maybe that one spot in tank has steroid type qualities to it, who knows.

Anyhow, now that this coco worm is approaching 2" long id like to take him off the frag and put him in the sandbed. Would i just scrape under the base with a razorblade? Is there a specific way to harvest these guys without comprimising their structure/health?
