Hi! My husband and I are newbie saltwater aquarists. We're very experienced with freshwater, but my husband has always wanted a reef aquarium. Well, he's got his wish, i just bought him a saltwater set up for Valentines Day.
It's a 14g Oceanic BioCube. With 5lbs of LR, and 10lbs (i believe) of DS in the tank currently. Bioballs and 3 layer filter pads in the back. Actinic LEDs. I also have SeaChem stabilizer dosing once a day.
We rinsed the sand and put it in and the LR was placed last night. The water is beautifully clear and everything looks good.
My question is how does the LR affect the cycling time (I'm finding conflicting info)? Also, I'm finding many polyps on the LR that seems happy as can be. Full extended and open with their colors really showing. Is this a good thing?
