Swapping some rock with media for cooking

So basically i want to cook my rock in my current tank before moving it into the 6ft (still have plenty of time since i'm still curing the last batch we just bought) but i don't want to remove essential a significant amount of my biological filtration. So before this 6ft was FW and we had marinepure blocks in the sump as the biological filtration so i was thinking i could use some of that in the tank which will also give me something to place corals on (as well as some PVC pipe) and i won't be losing any filtration.

The only thing i'm hesitant about is starting a mini cycle in the tank. The media was well established but since it was taken out it has been out of water for a couple of months now. Should i put it in a bucket of SW with a pump and let it run for a bit before chucking it in the tank to replace the rock? this is my best method of approach i can think of so any help would be great!
