I had an idea the other day after pricing some new skimmers and was wondering if it has been done yet.
I'm thinking I take a couple of those blue office water jugs and make a huge skimmer out of them. I would cut them at the little bulges they have in their middles and epoxy them one on top of the other. Id leave the bottom on one and the neck on the other and that would make my skimmer neck. For a cup, a five gallon bucket with a hole in the bottom set over the neck of the top bottle and epoxy that in place. A couple bulkheads and a little PVC, throw in a good pump and air stone and you have a huge counter current skimmer.
Any thoughts?
