So I got a yellow watchman goby last week. He has seemed quite content. I've seen him all over the tank and seems to chill on the sandbed part of the tank at night. I've seen him swimming up and down the glass on the side that my 10g is sitting on. I didn't really think anything of it. I've seen him do this two of three times.
Today I come home and look closely at everything like I do every day, I can't find my yellow watchman goby. I look in my overflow, filter sock, floor, every where, can't find him. I start getting sad. I stand there cross my arms as I give the bottom of the tank one more side to side glare and as I get to the side with my 10g on it there he is. Staring at me like I'm an idiot. He's in my frag tank. He wasn't in my frag tank this morning. Now he is.
Once I spotted him I went to the front of the tank and stared at him, he stared back. Then he starts raising altitude getting a lil closer to me seeming like he's trying to tell me 'whatcha gonna do now punk!' He floats to about an inch from the top of the water and just stays there, staring at me. Just staring. I walk away and he goes back to the caves in the frag tank.
I put it together, he was swimming up and down the side glass trying to get into the frag tank. I guess he found the smaller rock work there more suitable then in the 55g. So he jumped and made it.
These guys really are smarter then we give em credit for. I'm glad he made it, he put a lot of effort into it so I'll keep him in the 10g frag tank, he's alone, there is smaller rock work, plenty of pods, amphipods and hiding spots (I wonder if he knows there is a peppermint shrimp and a 5in serpent star in there yet as well lol). It'll suit him well, myself as well since apparently no one around here can find me a red/green goby that Helen showed me..
I'll also be ordering the clear mesh from brs (I think that's who it was)(did some research and I tracked down a thread that showed the clear mesh blocks 4% of light if anyone wanted to know, black mesh blocks a lil more, next is regular window screen and in last place of the test blocking the most like is egg crate)
I've been looking for mesh since I got my wrasse but I was always worried about light blockage so now I know and have decided on what to get.
I still just can't believe he made the gesture like he did when I first saw him tho.....
