Hey all,
So my new nano tank seems to be going pretty well. I am thinking I may want to add a coral or two. I was wondering if anyone can provide some info as to what I should do in preparation of this. I presently have the API Master Test Kit (Ammonia, Nitrite, pH, Nitrate) and a Refractometer. I am not dosing the tank with anything. I am using RODI/Instant Ocean Salt (but planning to switch to reef crystals).
I was wondering what are the basic test kits I will need to get started (not every one for a super stocked setup, just the essentials). Also, are there any easy corals I should look for to get started? And are there any additives/nutrients I will need?
The tank is a 20 Gal with a moderate amount of live rock, sand bed, and there is a Ocellaris Clown, Ruby Red Scooter Blenny, Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, Emerald Crab, a few blue legged hermits, and assorted snails (mostly Nassarius and Astrea). There is also a little bit of coral growing on the rock. For lighting I have a 24" Dual T5 HO with Daylight and Actinic bulbs which I keep on 8 hours a day. At night, just a small blue LED.
I also have an AC70 converted into a refugium, and a Fluval C Series HOB filter (http://ift.tt/1qf3po1). These both run 24/7. There is also decent water movement due to a Jebao wavemaker and a Hydor Korallia Nano Power Head.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
