High flow, medium flow, powerheads on timers

Well I've got an idea. I read a post on here that outlined how the nutrients reef dwellers consum are brought in by oceanic currents. The currents bring the nutrients in and currents sweep away detritus.

So I thought, well I have a high flow powerhead that's not being put to much use. I want to put this powerhead on a timer to come on at a point in time for a certain time. I want to achieve detritus removal from rocks with this (like a daily turkey baster blowing).

The flow pattern from the powerhead gives out two beams of flow so I could essentially hit just about a whole side of my rock work. The other side has a 600gph powerhead running all the time.

As always, I check with you guys and seek out the best advice with new ideas, so does this sound like a good idea?

What time of day should this powerhead come on and for how long?

I have a programmable timer where I can have it come on several times a day; pretty much whenever I want. Should I do short bursts throughout a span of a few hours or just on for a constant amount of time?

Various zoa's

Various paly & protopaly

Torch coral

Although the 1600gph flow will be intermittent will the torch be mad? I'm guessing the best time to kick the powerhead on would be at night so the torch would be sunken in
