I am researching starting a 180 gallon saltwater aquarium. I don’t really want to buy Live Rock or Sand because of how many pests I got in my 5 gallon tank. I don't know any one around where I live with a saltwater aquarium either.
I read about Coralline Algae Booster (little plates encrusted with Coralline Algea) and the Sand Activator (nitrifying bacteria, detritivores and micro-invertebrates) from the Indo-Pacific Sea Farms site. I was wondering if that would be enough to cycle and seed a new tank if I use only dry rock and sand? Or do I need to add other stuff as well?
