Hey TRT,
Just wanted to share that I am probably going to experience an ICH issue. I recently bought a neon goby and a scooter blenny. Purchased the neon goby for preventing disease and what would you know, I noticed the salty looking parasite on him after acclimation. (Fully aware of the fact I should have a quarantine tank). However, I am the person who needs to learn the hard way.
Anyways, I think what will happen is I will need to catch all the fish (without removing rock) and place them in a 30g long I have on standby as a quarantine tank. I recently learned that ICH meds are more harmful than good and all that is required is increased oxygen with increased temps. Meds can create unneeded stress on the fish and aren't as effective as many people think. I plan to keep them housed in the QT for at least 45 days, while I boost the temp in the display tank to about 82 to increase the lifecycle of ICH and hope it leaves my tank.
I am really looking for some input or ideas as to a better way or idea of what to do. This is my first time (and last because I will now keep a QT before introducing fish into a display saltwater tank) having ICH and want to approach it safely and effectively.
