Toadstool leather getting eaten

So my moorish idol thinks my new toadstool colony tasts great... He swims by and picks the polyps of the edges.. He's verry well fed but he can't kick this habit. My question is do the polyps on the toadstool grow back?? I know I'm Likely going to have to remove the coral. Just hoping it will recover before I pass it on to a new home
