Tank Stand Question

Hi everyone,

I am currently setting up a 20 gallon long reef tank (30x12x12). I have been looking around for a decent stand that would have a lot of room under the tank for storing fresh and salt water reservoir (and potentially a sump) but have been disappointed by not finding much out there :(. So i have decided to try and get a custom built stand (i wont build it myself but will have a professional carpenter do it; don't worry :freak:).

Now here is the thing; i think and feel that very soon i will be upgrading to a bigger tank (after getting some reef traction with my 20 gallon). So the thought is to design a tank stand that can accommodate future expansions (rather than spending again and again on stands). So is it possible to have a 48"x 19" stand (top board which can basically support up to 75 or 90 gallon tanks) and use with my 20 gallon long tank. The tank will be kind of sitting at the middle of the top but there will be plenty of braces across the top to support it.

Any ideas on this one? everything is welcome here.

Also in designing a stand what are the specific design items i should be planning for (other than having a lot of unobstructed cabinet space below the tank)?

thanks in advance.
