Cobalt Neo-Therm heater

I was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with the Cobalt Neo-Therm heaters. If so, can you tell me if they can be placed horizontally in your sump? I read somewhere where it says they need to be set up vertically. I was wondering if that was true. Thanks.
