Hey guys just joined here and had a few questions.
Im setting up my first saltwater tank. I have two 20g longs. One Im using for a sump, and the other for the main tank. I had a few questions regarding sumps. I have a canister filter and was wondering if theres any point putting a canister with the sump. Ive read around and some people say not to just due to the cleaning required, but is there any other reason not to? If nothing else im thinking it could be used for added flow or maybe even a reactor. I understand that they take a lot to clean, but I dont really mind doing that. Im also wondering if I should get a protein filter. I hear its a must have for reef tanks, but Ive also read if your on top of your water changes than it may not be necessary. I was also wondering if getting a RO unit would be beneficial. Ive read not to use treated tap water but having seen too much as to why. Thanks in advance.
