I know I have a couple other threads going, but I have questions, dang it! I can't seem to find a reliable answer to this, so I'm coming to the people I trust.
I have a flame scallop that I have been feeding a mix of phyto and zoo plankton 1-2 times a week. I know that with a 9-gallon, the amount I'm feeding could increase my water nutrients to unwanted levels, so I'm trying to be restrained about it, and not overfeed.
My question is, after I feed and populate the water with what is "recommended" on the bottle, does that remain in the water column, or is my sponge/activated carbon filter taking all of that out of the tank? Can either kind get through the filter and back into circulation? I have been turning off the filter to feed, but I'm hoping the scallop has some more passive feeding in between sessions of me actively squirting crap into his face.
I was given the advice to create a little dome over him with a 2-liter bottle top so he can "soak" in the food for a bit, but his locale in my tank makes that next-to-impossible.
