Peppermints and Bubble Tips

Peppermints harassing bubble tips - fact or fiction?

I got a nice little bubble tip about a month ago. Been looking good - strong color, hasn't moved at all, eats, mouth is tightly closed all the time. I came home at lunch today to find him balled up. If he were bigger I would've wondered if he'd eaten some one. When I came home tonight, he was open again, but the tentacles on one side were shriveled and stretched and some looked ripped.

At first I was giving all the fish the stink eye and went digging for any info that said they might've had an occasional taste for nems, but after not finding anything suspicious about any of them I stumbled on peppermints being accused of this. I couldn't seem to find anything concrete though.

I do have a trio of peppermints in that tank that live directly under the nem though. And I know these guys have a strong taste for aiptasia as I used them to clean up some old rocks from the 40b before cooking them (set up a nano, stuck a rock in there with the peps and they'd have it clean in a few days, rinse and repeat).

Could they be nom nom noming on my nem? I moved his rock away from their home, but now I'm wondering if they need completely removed.

Sorry, I know a pic is worth a thousand words, but I panicked - fed him and moved him and he hasn't reopened yet. I'll grab one when he's feeling better.
