dry rock question

I bought about 35lbs of dry rock to add to the 60lbs of rock i already have in my tank. The rock has a lot of dried up stuff all over it and I know I need to clean it but not sure how to. The store I usually go to told me to bleach the rock for a couple days with a lot of bleach which will dissolve all the dead stuff then rinse really well and bake in the oven at about 200. I have never heard of doing this method before but he does this to his rock in his reef tank and his tanks look amazing my question is has anyone every done this before??
