Chocolate Chip Star Not Eating

Today I bought two freshly wild caught little neck clams from my local grocery store. I steamed them just enough to kill any remaining bacteria and so that it would open slightly. Then I rinsed it in warm water and placed it in my tank for my CCS. Within the hour he climbed down from the tank wall and buried himself within the clam shell. I assumed he had started eating. Later today he climbed out and I found that the clam had been uneaten. What do I do? What can I feed my starfish? I have no coral in the tank and he doesn't seem to bothered by the two clowns i have. Any feeding advice, or food preferences. Or anything really. Thanks
