Hello All:
I have been seeing purplish algae on my sand bed lately.
I have a 6.5 month old 92 gallon corner bow front. I have a skimmer, an overflow chamber, 25 gallon sump, UV sterilizer and media reactor running NPX pellets.
I have 3 blue/green chromis, one Red Flame Angel, 2 Ocellaris clowns and a scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp. I also have about 35lbs of LR.
As of 20 minutes ago my parameters are:
Nitrites-O
Nitrates-5 or 10 (Red Sea vs. API)
Ammonia-0
Phosphates-.1 or less
pH-8.2
My usual WC is every 12-14 days with about 15-20 gallons changed.
My light have been cut down to about 6 or 7 hours per day. And I feed once a day - frozen mysis, brine or spirulina - usually less than a full cube.
Pictures are attached. All the stock seems very happy, but I don't think the sand algae is good. What could I be doing better?
