can the war coral regenerate?

Hey guys I have a war coral, pretty sure it's an tyree war coral.

But it looks like it was getting nipped by my emerald crab, I'm wondering if it will regenerate. (it looks a whitish on the sides) I'm thinking about trading my emerald for a female hoping that will solve the problem.

I like my crab a lot, but I don't want to sacrifice corals for it.
