Whether you have a $150+ corallife 125 super skimmer or a $400+ aqua-c ev 180 skimmer, they both can do a good job of pulling organic matters out from your tank once they are tuned properly. You can argue that more expansive skimmers have better gadgets or mechanisms to fine tune foammate output and less likely to overflow. But is it really necessary to pay so much more?
When skimmer overflows because something like chemical reaction due to addition of stress coat solution etc. into the tank or air inlet to the skimmer being block. then it doesn't matter what skimmer you have, it will overflow! Don't forget too how many times you have forgotten to empty the cup or draining jar when it is full!
That is why we've come up with SOS to stop your skimmer from actual overflowing and alert you to the situation.
