Plate coral (fungia) questions

I was offered a short tentacle orange plate coral in a trade for my whole freshwater setup. Before going through with it I have some questions. They said some of the tissue is gone and was when they got it, but it is in better shape now. How likely is it for these coral to recover from stings/lost tissue? Also, will this coral pose any problems with other coral it may be able to touch (does it sting other coral). I read they can move around on their own.
