Plenum

In preparation for my new tank setup I have been contemplating various methods. One of my current notions is to setup a plenum. I have zero experience with one. I am looking for feedback from those who have ran one. I can read a bazillion articles online (and have read quite a few) therefore I am looking for personal experience not hypothetical conjecture based on what someone else wrote. I don't mean this in a condescending manner, it's just that I'm not looking an authoritarian who has not experimented personally. I am curious to know if you have used a plenum and how long. Did you change because of a crash? Can you directly correlate the crash with the plenum? Did you maintain your plenum and how so? I am thinking about installing a drainable plenum in my new 240.

Another notion i had was to do a plenum in the sump. The manner in which I thought about it was to have a fuge at one end(for pods) and then the plenum. The fuge would have very slow flow from one of the overflow drains and flow to the plenum area and then into the return section. My thought though is that such a small plenum would have minimal impact on such a large DT.
