Killing xenia with kalkpaste

There was one head of xenia that survived removal.

So i mixed up kalkpaste and put it on a clam shell and covered it up.

First issue is will the kalkpaste raise the pH in my tank to quickly as it mixes with the water?

Second issue is how long should i leave this on?
