Uv effectiveness

Hey guys, i purchased the uv sterilizer from coralife the 6x 18w. I wanted some opinions on how i cna get the best bang for ny buck on this uv sterilizer, should i purchase a small pump 110gph to kill parasites or should i just hook it up to smy skimmers pump that os 300gph and let ittake care of bacteria and some algea
