Quite new to the hobby so I apologise in advance for any silly questions.
I have a 220L tank (55 gallons?) and I'm running a skimmer with a 650L capacity (160 gallons?).
Could this pose a problem for my tank? My tank is less than 3 months old and went skimmer-less for a few weeks and I noticed I have a dinoflagellates problem which seems to be getting worse.
After putting this skimmer in it's pulling some very thick dark brown skimmate and producing some nice foam. My tank water also started looking CRYSTAL clear. I'm worried that after it keeps up with the tank sooner or later it'll stop skimming well. (Due to the loss of nutrients?) Could dosing reef energy help out here? Also could the skimmer possibly make the dino problem better or worse?
So should I reduce my skimmer size? Will the skimmer help the dinos at all? Or am I just over killing right now.
