1 week ago I upgraded my 10gal (established for 1yr 7mos) to a 30 gal. I put the LR into a 3 gal tank I had on hand along with the hermit & snail (only creatures in the tank) I put new substrate (dry sand) with about 1 cup of the established sand from 10 gal. I put in all new water. Got filter running, power head & heater all set. 2 days later I added the LR, snail & crab to new tank. Temp is steady at 77°, salinity 1.024, pH 8.2, ammonia 0, nitrates 0-5.0, nitrites 0.
On a different post (before I started the change over) someone mentioned that my tank should not go thru a hard cycle like a brand new tank would because of my established sand & LR. I have been told this also by other fish enthusiasts. I guess I just want more feedback about this before I add any fish. I was thinking of getting a clown fish to start. I will definitely take my water sample with me to confirm my readings.
I do have a copy of the fish compatibility chart for reference.
