My tank (29g biocube) has been established for almost 7 weeks now. It cycled in about 2.5 weeks and I haven't had any issues with algae since then until about 10 days ago. My glass has to be cleaned daily because it gets caked in green algae and my sand bed looks awful as its covered in brown algae.
I test my water once a week and every week it is looking great. I just tested it 20 minutes ago and my pH was 8.1, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are all at 0 and my salinity is 1.024. My tank temp is between 76 and 78 degrees.
I have a media rack with poly-filter filter floss, purigen and chemipure. I also have a protein skimmer. I only use RO water for top offs. I have a cleanup crew that includes snails, hermit crabs, a green emerald crab and a cleaner shrimp.
With all of that said, I still have the algae problems! Any ideas what's causing this?? And what can I do to correct the problem? I'm new at all of this so I'm struggling for ideas/answers. Thanks for your help!
