Nothing I do will silence my overflow.

Hey guys... nothing I do seems to have any effect on the sound of my overflow. It's the Eshopps 800gph overflow and I built a stockman pipe for it like 3 different ways, large holes, tons of small holes and even cutting huge chunks of PVC out so the pipe is being held by two thin pieces of PVC.. and all it does is impede my water flow by a lot. Yes, it's quiet but I cannot get it to be quiet AND have great flow. Does anyone know what I should do?
