Help with drilling and stand support my new 135gal?

I bought this tank off craigslist - I ran into a big problem with my stand. The tank is pre-drilled. I drilled holes today and the second hole(return) is so far back its running into the top 2x2. I don't know what to do cut away half of the support frame 2x2 to make it fit? I have to still have room to screw on the bulkhead.. Any ideas i'm new to plumbing and never had a sump before..

Do you guys think these 2x2's can withhold a 135 gal reef? I'm scared that it wont from DIY builds I have seen people use 2x4 and beams at the top going across?

Any tips should I just cut it in half and try to reinforce it? The plywood at the top is 1/2 inch.

Thanks,
