I had my pair of clown Ocell. fish for 2 years and there was no drama. Recently, I noticed my male clown (submissive) has been acting more aggressive. He started to nip at the female clown and drag her by her fins to the corner. Female stays in the corner then she leaves, then the male forces her to return to the corner.
On a normal day, the female nips at the male. Then the male does his vibrating dance. I have never seen him so forceful with the female by dragging her by the tail. It is like the fish version of cave man.
I separated the two clown fish. Male is away from the female. I am hoping while separated the female clown will establish her territory. Water parameters are normal. Nothing out of the regular.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening?
