I have been reading the forum for weeks - scanning everything about lighting, types of tanks, depths, cover or no cover, white sand black sand, and everything in between trying to get an idea of what lighting I need and what I can add on to what I currently have.
This chart here is such a great guide for people who don't quite get all the math and reason behind the watts, nms, colors, bulbs and all that jazz just yet.

It has three setups for softies and live rock only,
live rock, softies and lps
AND THEN live rock, softies, lps and sps.
Just a good reference since it is generally really hard to find someone with your tank size asking about lighting for the same types of corals you want to grow.
Thanks :)
