I'm trying to figure out the cause of death of my black and white ocellaris clown and if the tank is possibly at risk.
We introduced a pair to our tank about a week ago. As far as we could see they were both perfectly healthy. A couple days ago, the smaller one started acting a bit odd (randomly laying on the bottom), but his appetite and appearance and activity (other than laying for a few seconds) were normal. Checked on the tank this morning and our hermits were mauling the body.
We have a 55 gallon with various soft corals, live rock, the usual cleaning crew, a yellow watchman goby, and 2 pajama cardinal fish. The other clown is still alive and doing well.
Does any one know the possible cause? If so, should I be worried about the rest of the tank? Any help would be much appreciated.
