Goby and pistol shrimp not finding each other

The other day I got a hi fin red banded goby and a red and white pistol shrimp. They weren't sold as a pair but they were the only inhabitants of their tank at the fish store, And when they were acclimating the goby would hover over the shrimp like he was protecting it. However, once they were acclimated, I made a bone-head decision to put the shrimp in first. He got in then went straight to a rock and hid. Then I put the goby in and he never saw the shrimp so he didn't go to him. I feel really stupid for not putting the goby in first so that he could've seen the shrimp and followed him. They are now in seperate parts of the tank and the goby is more in the water column rather than in the rocks. Anyways, is there anything I can do to get them together? Or just wait and see what happens?
