What in the heck was my GSP fragged on?

So I bought this GSP over a month ago. It has exploded in size (I'm aware of what is in the future). I can't figure out what the heck it was fragged on though. It looks like an SPS coral branch but is soft and hollow and tube like. I have looked on how to frag these since I want them on my back glass. What I can't figure out is how to cut this to frag it. I'm thinking I'll cut one end of the "tube" off and splice it open and glue it. There is a definite top and bottom to this "branch"
