Wave Makers and Surface Agitation

I recently set up my 75g tank and am waiting for the cycle to finish. while doing this, I find myself staring at rocks....and actually enjoying it. My question is about surface agitation and wave makers. I have 2 jebao wp25's at opposite sides of the tank facing each other and am getting excellent wave patterns on the surface with a little agitation also. I originally had my return tubes pointed at the back of the tank to try and increase flow there, but recently pointed one at the surface increase agitation. Is that needed or are the waves agitation enough?
