I have just recently put salt in my tank to mix the salt. I then let my tank cycle for about 24 hours. The water cleared somewhat within the first 5 hours. The tank is still a little "foggy" and I have no idea why. If anything it is more foggier than after the 5 hours. The specific gravity is 1.029, which is a lot higher than what it is supposed to be. I mixed the salt accordingly to the volume of the water. My tank is a 75 gallons, so I put in 2.75 gallons of salt. Is said on the box to put in a half a cup per gallon. So i looked at how many cups are in 2.75 gallons. 44 cups go into 2.75 gallons so i multiplied that number by 2 and it cane out to 88 half cups. Since my tank is 75 gallons, and my 30 gallon sump if half way full, I figured that I would be a little under 1.020 for the specific gravity. DID I calculate wrong, or do I just need to to a water change? I would appreciate any ideas that anyone has.
